So last night we had a little Middle Eastern dinner at Shannon's place. I made all kinds of stuff. I thought about taking a posting pictures. But then I forgot. And now it's all eaten. But it all looked and tasted wonderful. So first I made some pita bread. I had a bit of trouble rolling it into circles because I didn't have a rolling pin. So they all had interesting shapes. But they tasted really good. We also made some falafel to put into the pita bread. Mashed by hand. Not because I'm hardcore but because we didn't really have a food processor. Then I made some Israeli couscous. Which included marinated and broiled red peppers, zucchini, and butternut squash. That is some good stuff. And for dessert, some baklava. Which is SUCH a pain to make. A few sheets of phyllo dough then "butter" than syrup than nuts (I used walnuts, pistachios, and almonds) then repeat like 20 times. Well actually prolly 10 because there were 40 sheets of dough and I used about 4 sheets per layer. But oh man does that stuff taste wonderful.
Middle Eastern dinner = success. Up next = East African dinner (if I can find a recipe for injera)
