yard work

this morning i did some yard work.  i know that is prolly really weird to all of you on the east coast with multiple feet of snow.  but seattle has been in the 50s and sunny.  on saturday i played catch in a t-shirt.  today i did yard work in a t-shirt.  the ground was so soft.  the weeds came right up.  it was nice to get my hands in the dirt since i hadn't done it in a while.  it was nice even to put my dirty gardening pants on.  i didn't get that much done because our front yard is a mess and will take a long time.  but the spot i did do looks pretty good.  it was covered in weeds and all kinds of things.  including many broken pieces of glass and scrabble pieces.  and now it's all nice clean dirt ready for some things to be planted.  although it might just stay a nice dirt area because i can't really afford to buy any plants or things right about now.  but really.  it was good for me to do this.  first of all because it kept me busy in the morning.  i have been getting a little bored in the mornings.  but also because it is super relaxing and therapeutic to pull weeds and get dirty and to then see the results of the work.  and to see my pants all dirty.  and my hands all nicked up.  it was just really good for me.  especially right now.  i think i will do more tomorrow.  i'm sure it will take quite a few days to get our yard looking really good.  it is quite a mess.  that's probably a good thing, though.  it will keep me busy for a bit.
