I start work TOMORROW!

Ok, can we talk about how excited I am for work tomorrow?  Because I am, very much so.  Excited that is.  I started researching Seattle Youth Garden Works back in like December or something.  And I was super excited about it then because it is an amazing agency doing some really great things for the homeless and under served youth here in Seattle.  I have been excited about this for a long time, and I really can't believe that it is here.  Actually I still can't really believe that I am in Seattle.  It doesn't feel that far away from the east coast.  But, yeah, basic gist of my life right now: I am extremely excited about work and it starts tomorrow morning.

Today I did a test bike ride to my new office:
It is in a very industrial part of the city in a neighborhood called Georgetown.  It's about 9 miles from my house in the neighborhood of Wallingford.  It would be about an hour bus ride (maybe more in rush hour traffic) and only about 45 mins on my bike.  So I decided that I am going to bike it.  I would prefer to not have such a long commute to work, but we will be working in the office in the mornings and then in the garden in the afternoon.  The garden is about 1 mile from my house in the University District.  Most of the youth in the program come from the University District.  Living closer to the garden is better I think.  So I will just have a long commute in the morning and a REALLY short one in the afternoon.  Anyways, I'm really glad I did the test ride because I got a little lost.  I starred at the map for a good while trying to figure out the best route on my bike.  But I missed the fact that one of the streets I had to turn onto was under the overpass that I went over.  And I couldn't find the turn anywhere.  Until I asked someone.  But I'm glad I got lost today on the test ride instead of tomorrow morning.  It is a pretty good ride through a few little neighborhoods.  Just one hill that won't be too bad once I get back into biking shape.  Sidenote: Seattle is a lot hillier than I expected.  There are some streets that have very steep grades.  So I am excited to bike to work.  It makes me super happy to not have a car.
Also today I put up pictures and artwork in my room.  I think it looks really good.  Pictures of all my favorite people make me smile when I wake up in the morning.  I am officially completely moved in, and I start my awesome new job in the morning.  This is pretty wonderful!
